Eligibility
The Environmental
Endowment for New Jersey distributes funds from settlements of lawsuits
brought to enforce compliance with the federal Clean Water Act. The
projects funded must comply with the Court Orders entered in those cases and
must have a clear and direct linkage to the waters impacted by the
violations underlying the Clean Water Act enforcement cases.
Applicants should
describe with as much specificity as possible how their project will
mitigate environmental impacts on the watersheds identified below.
Applicants should also specify the municipalities that will benefit from the
project.

Environmental projects
in and/or near the Kill Van Kull, the Arthur Kill, Newark Bay, Upper and
Lower New York Bay and/or other waters in the tidally-related New York-New
Jersey Harbor Complex.

Environmental projects in the
municipalities that constitute the 37 Passaic Valley Sewerage
Commissioners service area. Owner Municipalities:
Belleville, Bloomfield, Clifton, East Rutherford (partially), East Newark,
Garfield, Glen Ridge, Haledon, Harrison, Kearny (partially), Lodi,
Lyndhurst (partially), Montclair, Newark, North Arlington (partially),
Nutley, Orange, Passaic, Paterson, Prospect Park, Rutherford (partially),
Wallington. Leasees:
Bayonne, East Orange, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hawthorne, Jersey City, Little
Falls, North Caldwell*, North Haledon, Saddle Brook, Totowa, Union City*,
West Orange, West Paterson, Wyckoff*.
*Those municipalities have some portion
going through one of the others.
